Yoga is to connect your body and mind.

When I started practicing Bikram, I fell in love and I was hooked… though not from my very first class.

It helped my frequent headaches and back issues from a car accident. It even helped my blood pressure- my doctor was impressed and took me off medication.

In Fall 2016 I attended Bikram Teacher Training to pursue my dream of teaching yoga to others. I truly believe that Bikram Yoga is the best exercise for your mind and body.

There is an old Chinese saying, “Healthy is wealthy!” Even with all the money in the world you need a healthy body and healthy mind to live a full and happy life.

  • Jackie

Jackie started her yoga practice with Bikram Yoga in 2003. Yoga provides her not only with a challenging workout, but also improved focus outside the yoga room, help dealing with stressors and emotions, physical healing, and is an integral part of her self care.  Jackie has been teaching the original 26+2 since Spring 2014 after graduating from Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. She has taught Gentle Hatha yoga and Yoga Nidra for healthcare workers after completing a 200 RYT training in 2015 and Classical Yoga Nidra training in 2018.

Jackie will support you during any part of your practice, providing encouragement and care.  She teaches each class with her intention and focus on you, her student. Her goal is to guide others through their practice so they too can make their own personal discoveries, challenge themselves, feel empowered, and experience the amazing benefits that extend beyond the yoga room.

  • Bev

I started Bikram Yoga in 1994. I became a certified Bikram yoga teacher in 2008. In 2017 I traveled to India spending two months at the ashram in Kolkata; where the 26+2 originated, learning the practical therapeutic side of the practice.

Before starting my practice. I kept myself in shape by jogging and aerobics. I joined my aerobics instructor for a class, and the rest is history. I never left or quit the practice. My main focus for the past 28 years has been Bikram yoga. It's the glue that holds me together physically and mentally; it keeps my life in check. Not only do I enjoy the practice, but I enjoy the overall feeling of peace, tranquility, flexibility, strength, and willpower after class. It's the best natural high in the world there's nothing like it. This practice is my lifelong journey.

I believe the right way is the hard way in the sense that I practice with the intention of not conforming my body to accomplish the postures, but trying the right way, and eventually getting there. The postures are not the object of your body, but your body is the object of the postures. Instilling the virtues of patience, determination, concentration, faith, and self-control in body and mind on and off the mat.

The practice is fun and challenging at the same time. It's your time on the mat. The time; in which, you create self-care in your body and mind and treat your temple with care. If you're an individual trying the practice for the first time, keep an open mind and have fun. Remember it's only practice.

One of my favorite sayings is, "never too sick, never too late, never too old, never too bad to start from scratch again" This quote inspires me to keep going and never ever give up on yourself. You have more latent power than you think you do. 99.9% is showing up on your mat. What are you waiting for?
